Very exciting to see the development of green equity both in public and private equity. This brings even more progressive change with a different creative energy and approach necessary to make positive and broad impact for many companies not in a position to take on debt.

Agree that green equity will be interesting to see going forward. It can be discouraging sometimes to be engaged on enviro issues — so many huge challenges. But fun to see private sector revving up on the innovation front.

"1. Visit DC (where most NGOs are headquartered), meet with some NGOs and start getting to know them." DC is where most BIG, well-known, and big budget NGO's are located, but there are lots of small, local, and highly effective NGO's out there, it would be a mistake for businesses to only connect with the large NGO's just because they look more like businesses. There is a lot of room for mid to small NGO's to work with businesses!

definitely agree that small and mid size NGOs are very important. The DC comment was not especially important (but I’ll note there are small and mid size ones here too).

Thanks for your response. I really enjoy the Instigator. I have followed your career since we met through Dr. Don Melnick from Columbia University at his NYTimes journalism conference in Punta Cana, DR when you were still with GS (approximately 2004?). Our foundation (Grupo Puntacana Foundation) in the Dominican Republic has worked with TNC for years, we appreciated your leadership there as well. Great to have your voice and thoughts on environmental issues.

I remember and relish that trip to DR. I was a rookie back then. Don was a great mentor.
