Hi Mark - great article. Broken link on the following, and I'm curious to know who you are thinking of: "It's exciting to see <broken link> new companies </broken link> emerge—often backed by prominent VCs—aiming to provide ever-higher quality offsets at good prices."

This is a great article and a very necessary one. While it's important to explore the entire suit of options for carbon capture and storage, the push by startups and their funders on tech CCS solutions as somehow being better or more concrete than NCS is self-interested at best and at worst, bears a real risk of displacing prioritization of NCS. We need investment in NCS solutions for today, and not just investment into hypothetical CCS technology that may not be scalable or permanent.

One item which I would have loved for you to comment on is the prioritization even with the NCS world- preventing deforestation is a better GHG sink that reforestation/afforestation and saving tropical forests like the Amazon and Indonesia is more important from a climate perspective than some of the better funded forest or ag pushes here in North America. To this extent, would have loved to see you comment on jurisdictional REDD approaches to address some of the issues of additionality, leakage and double counting you mention! https://www.edf.org/redd-protecting-tropical-forests
