It's worth highlighting how much "political support" has increased since 2008. In 2020, one Marist/etc survey shows 12% of likely presidential voters list climate change as their number one priority. That's up from 2% in 2016, and puts Climate Change in the #3 spot after only the economy (21%) and coronavirus (13%). Among Democratic voters, climate change jumped to the #1 spot at 22%, and this poll came in before the wild fires on the west coast. The urgency for action exists among voters this time.
Thanks Ryan. Agree. Fingers crossed - the opportunity for big progress could finally be here. Political support better than it has been in a long time. As noted, I think private sector has opportunity to engage in big and constructive way, but business as usual approach won’t work.
I couldn't agree more and would go even further. A number of not-so-usual topics must start being integrated at the core of any company's business strategy. Fighting climate change as a side initiative will NEVER create the massive change needed to rethink our economy. As a 30-year old entrepreneur I created a strategy agency (www.bluestark.ca) that helps organizations transform themselves at the core and get CEOs to follow a new agenda (what I called the 5 P's) :
- Purpose: rethink why your organization exists.
- Profit: create value beyond economic reasons.
- Planet: walk the talk on carbon neutrality and SDGs.
- People: empower participation and shared benefits.
- Policies: lead on change and influence policy debates.
At the end of the day, it's about profoundly changing how we do business in this world, and there couldn't be a better time to start doing it.

Thanks - great point. We do have momentum, more people on our side.

Hi Karine. Thanks for your thoughtful reply. Makes sense to me. Meanwhile, I’m interested in learning more about Blue Stark. Best, MT
