Yes, we have to reduce greenhouse gas emissions ASAP. But that’s just one of at least six huge things we need to do to address fully the greatest challenge humankind has ever faced.
That was one of my messages when I was a guest on the Night Owls podcast last week. Please give it a listen and let us know what you think.
Hosts John Ellis and Joe Klein — two longtime star journalists and now Substack bigwigs — ask good questions and we all hold forth on the multifaceted aspects of fighting climate change.
Tune in and hear about the other five daunting climate missions ahead.
How we have to:
Adapt to climate change (because it’s too late to avoid it)
Remove carbon from the atmosphere at scale (essential to any net-zero plan)
Compensate low-income and low-emission countries for damage and loss inflicted on them by rich and high-emission countries
Address the risks and opportunities of geo-engineering (i.e., efforts to manipulate weather patterns) and
Elect deft political leaders who can help society navigate its way forward. (Public service announcement: This is an election year all over the world — let’s get to work.)
We also discuss other issues familiar to readers of this newsletter. Again, let us know what you think. We love feedback.
And please also check out John’s and Joe’s newsletters — they are both really great.
Onward,
